The League of Therapists is an association of more than 200 clinicians providing comprehensive mental health services throughout Central and Western Virginia. We are a training center where clinicians participate in weekly group and individual supervision using video tapes, live supervision, and team coordination. The central theoretical foundation of The League is Structural Family Therapy.
Our clinicians are skilled in a wide variety of specialties, including structural family therapy; attachment and trauma therapies; speech language, occupational, art, play music, and equine therapies; special education; sensory integration, behavior modification; counseling; family support; relaxation and stress management. Most of our staff are Master's level, many are licensed.
We strongly value communication and collaboration in the community, and maintain the highest standards of professional ethics. We are committed to keeping children within their families and/or communities whenever possible.
The League of Therapists was founded in 1997 in Charlottesville, Virginia by Stephen Greenstein, PhD and his wife, Frances Greenstein, LPC. Dr. Greenstein is a practitioner and trainer of Structural Family Therapy, and the League's Clinical Director. He has led numerous statewide and national family therapy training programs over the past 40 years. Dr. Greenstein developed his skills at the Philadelphia Child Guidance Center where he served as Director of Curriculum and Training under Salvador Minuchin.
